Service overview

Our multi-phase cleaning is suitable for wet rooms, dry rooms, and when needed, also vinyl flooring. We clean tiles and grout both by hand and mechanically.

Clean surfaces improve the comfort of the space. Keeping surfaces clean also extends the lifespan of grouting. The cleaning does not damage or weaken grout or surfaces. All products we use are environmentally friendly.

Different stains in the bathroom

The bathroom is exposed to various minerals, dirt, and chemicals. Every time the shower is used, depending on the person, different cleaning products reach the surfaces along with the dirt, grease, and dead skin they release from the body.

Over time, soap residue, dirt from people and pets, dust, and other everyday impurities build up on bathroom surfaces.

In addition, various minerals come with the water straight from the tap, the most common being calcium carbonate — limescale. Limescale stains and the staining caused by limescale are common and show up especially on glass surfaces, tiling, faucets, and grout. Another common cause of staining is iron, which leaves yellowish, brown, or reddish-brown marks and stains on tiles and grout. Iron is particularly present in well water. Copper dissolving from copper pipes can cause blue-green and turquoise stains on tile and grout surfaces.

Different stains can be prevented with regular general cleaning. When the situation gets difficult and home remedies and effort aren't enough, the stains can be treated with Vevex's multi-phase cleaning. Cleaning the bathroom grout and descaling is handled by us with professional skill.

Most common bathroom stains

Limescale

Calcium carbonate, or limescale, often appears on glass surfaces, tiles, faucets, and grout as pale, hard deposits.

Iron

Iron leaves yellowish, brown, or reddish-brown marks on tiles and grout. It is particularly present in well water.

Soap, grease, and dirt

Soap residue, dirt and grease released from people, and everyday dirt travel and build up on surfaces over time.

Bathroom cleaning steps

Bathroom cleaning begins with the necessary protection of the space, so that wash water doesn't end up where it isn't wanted and could cause damage.

Depending on the situation and the stains, the products and methods are chosen. Bathroom cleaning starts with wetting the surfaces. Cleaning the tile grout begins by wetting the grout lines so the cleaning agent can act on the stains without being absorbed into the grout. The chosen cleaning products are applied to the area to be cleaned and left to work. The area is chosen so it can be treated before the surface dries, so you shouldn't try to clean the whole bathroom at once but in sections. When cleaning bathroom grout, we don't want the cleaning products to dry into the grout lines before they can be washed and dried, because otherwise we cause more product residue and possibly discoloration in the grout.

Bathroom cleaning starts with the wall tiles. Stained tile surfaces are gone over carefully, several times if necessary, with different cleaning products. Descaling, for example, works best with acidic cleaners, while greasy dirt comes off more easily with an alkaline cleaner. Cleaning tiles and descaling glass requires good products, tools, and professional skill — and plain hard work. Removing limescale stains can be laborious even when the materials and methods are right, because limescale builds up and is hard.

Once the tiles are cleaned, we move on to cleaning the grout lines. Grout cleaning is done in order across the chosen area using various electric or mechanical tools. If there is surface mold in the grout lines, removing mold from bathroom grout is not permanently possible with cleaning alone — black mold requires renewing the grout in the problem area.

Once the tile surfaces are cleaned, the shower mixer taps, faucets, and any descaling of the shower and glass walls are also cleaned.

Finally, the cleaning product residue and dirt are rinsed off the surfaces.

Cleaning products

The best bathroom cleaning product is always chosen based on the dirt, depending on what is being cleaned. In addition, it must be ensured that the products don't damage grout lines or tiles.

On glazed tiles, descaling is easier because there are more products to choose from than, for example, on natural stone and marble surfaces. Natural stone is sensitive to acidic cleaners, and acidic products cannot be used in such cases or the surfaces may be damaged.

Acidic cleaner is best for limescale and iron stains on tiles and grout. In addition, glass walls and sauna glass doors withstand acidic cleaners.

Alkaline cleaner works better on grease and soap residue that builds up on surfaces during normal use. Alkaline products are also safer to use on surfaces.

Mold removal products can be good at preventing black mold, but grout lines that are already moldy require renewing the grout. If moldy grout isn't renewed, the problem returns soon after the bathroom cleaning — within weeks or months — and often spreads over time. When the grout is renewed, the black mold is removed and the area is re-grouted. This way, you don't have to keep washing black mold again and again. The optional Nano coating add-on prevents the growth of microbial deposits and keeps the space easier to maintain for longer.

Summary

Bathroom cleaning consists of different stages — protection, tile cleaning, grout cleaning, descaling, degreasing, and rinsing. Surface protection with a nano coating is also available as an option.

The necessary products and tools are chosen case by case.
